Oakgrove Community Centre News Letter Term 1 2019

Welcome back as we begin 2019.  A warm welcome to all our new and existing families, we are sure that you will thoroughly enjoy being part of our Community.

We hope that all families have enjoyed your summer holiday break and excited to start another year filled with new adventures.

We had a smooth start at Kinder and Playgroup as we began Term 1 last week with most of the children having settled in quite well. Well done parents!

We run playgroup on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am to 11.30am and currently have spots available for a Wednesday group. The sessions are facilitated by Jenny, qualified Early Learning Educator and suitable for all those who might want their children to socialise while mums/carers develop new friendships.

Quick Snapshot of 2018

We had a very successful AGM on Thursday, 15 March with new office bearers being elected. Marja Park from the City of Casey was in attendance.

Oakgrove Staff welcomed all our lovely Mums and special persons along with the children from Pre-Kinder/ Playgroup for Mother’s Day Morning Tea on Friday, 11 May. We had Glenn & Rad from Good Look Dance entertaining Mums/kids with dance moves and Mickey pampering mums with hand massages.

Thank you to all the families who supported with the Cadbury Fundraiser, Art on Plate, Stufflers to raise funds for Pre-Kinder room.

The funds raised from our Pre-Kinder Easter, Father’s Day & Christmas raffles went towards purchase of kinder supplies and toys.  Congratulations to the lucky winners.

Oakgrove Staff invited our Pre-Kinder and Playgroup families for an exciting Morning Tea for Father’s Day on Friday, 31st August. This was a massive treat for the children who enjoyed spending quality “Thank you” to Chris from Soccer Time Kids who kept the children, as well as the Dads, entertained. We appreciate the effort and time taken by a lot of families who were able to attend the Morning Tea and brought in some yummy food to share.

As part of City of Casey’s Ageing positively festival, the Senior’s Day event was held on Tuesday, 23 October with seniors participating in Line Dancing, Craft activity, Hand Massage and a yummy lunch.

We raised $1500 from the sausage sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings Cranbourne on Saturday, 27 October and would like to thank everyone for your valuable time and donations especially for the lovely mums and staff who volunteered on the day. The funds were utilised for the “Open Day” activities.

All families were invited for “Oakgrove Open Day” on Friday, 14th December a free event filled with fun activities for children and for the whole family. We loved to see many of you coming along with your kids and share a special moment of togetherness.

Our office has a new look with new office furniture, green plants, decor and a high flow painting by the Oakgrove Team.

School Holiday programs were busy with children participating in the Okie Dokie Disco, High Flow acrylic painting, Hula Hoop, Pottery classes, Zumba Fitness, Good Look Dance, Cooking programs, Meditation Workshop etc.

A very big "thank you" goes to all parents who have participated and supported us throughout the year.
